Unlike the Progressive image sampler, the Bucket one takes a variable number of samples per pixel depending on the difference in the intensity of the pixel, as result the image is rendered on small square portions (called "buckets"). The Production rendering mode switches between Progressive and Bucket image sampler. The Interactive renderer always runs in Progressive mode, an image sampling mode that progressively refines the image over time. The Interactive Rendering mode is a fast active renderer that updates the rendered image as changes are made to the Revit model or the V-Ray settings.
The Production Rendering mode utilizes all V-Ray's features and is intended to be used to create a clean production ready render. V-Ray includes two engines: a CPU based and a GPU based. While V-Ray renders standard Revit features, the V-Ray options are designed to work with the V-Ray render engine, and thus improve both image quality and render times.
V-Ray is seamlessly integrated in Revit and all its options are available from within the Revit user interface, including Global Illumination and the creation of V-Ray materials, maps and lights.
